Ben Youngs returns to training

England scrum-half Ben Youngs claims that he is fully fit and ready for selection.

England scrum-half Ben Youngs has returned to training, but claims that his reintroduction to the squad will be a gradual process.

The 21-year-old missed all three of England’s World Cup warm-up matches after undergoing keyhole surgery on an injured knee.

However, he was named as one of three scrum-halves in Martin Johnson's squad to cover for injured first-choice Danny Care.

The Leicester Tigers player will compete for the position with Sale Sharks back Richard Wigglesworth and the uncapped Joe Simpson.

"I'm fully training and the injury's good," Youngs said. "The timing wasn't ideal, but thanks to the physios and all the people who helped I'm here now. I'm fully training and ready for selection.

"The coaches are very smart. They know how to use me. They know that I might be lacking some match sharpness so I guess I'll be introduced slowly so it's just a case of getting that match sharpness back as it's not like you forget how to play."

England kick off their World Cup campaign against Argentina on Saturday, September 10.
