Stuart Lancaster wants clinical England against Australia

England head coach Stuart Lancaster believes that his team needs to be more ruthless when they take on Australia.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster has urged his players to be ruthless when they host Australia on Saturday.

Lancaster's team put their recent defeats to New Zealand and South Africa to one side last weekend with a 28-9 victory over Samoa at Twickenham Stadium.

While admitting that the Wallabies are sure to give his side a tough match this weekend, the 45-year-old wants England to improve on their recent performances and be more clinical when it matters.

"We scored three good tries [against Samoa] but we missed a few more tries," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Our game management was poor and that has been the area that has hurt us and is something we have to improve on.

"Australia will come to Twickenham with a lot of confidence. We have put ourselves in positions against South Africa and New Zealand to put ourselves in positions to win, but didn't do so."

England will be without number eight Billy Vunipola for the match, with Northampton Saints' Thomas Waldrom being called up in his place.
