Michael Cheika: 'Eddie Jones has a chip on his shoulder'

Michael Cheika says that Eddie Jones has no reason to feel aggrieved by supposed disrespect aimed in his side's direction, as Australia aim to end England's winning run.

Australia head coach Michael Cheika has hit back at England counterpart Eddie Jones, who he believes "has always operated with a chip on his shoulder".

In the build-up to the Red Rose's final Autumn International against the Aussies this weekend, both men - former teammates at Randwick - have exchanged strong views.

Jones accused the media in his Australian homeland of being disrespectful to England during their series Down Under earlier this year, but Cheika disagrees with the stance taken by the man who helped guide his nation to the World Cup final 13 years ago.

"I don't know where that comes from. He is very respected in Australia," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "He is a good Australian coach who took Australia to a World Cup final when we didn't expect to go fantastic.

"He is respected for that. He certainly is by me as a former teammate of his, and you saw when he was in Australia that he got a lot of respect. He has always operated with a chip on his shoulder and now there isn't a chip because things are going really well, he keeps looking for it."

England will be looking to make it 13 victories in a row at Twickenham on Saturday, equalling their longest winning run which spanned from 2012 to 2013.
