Mike Ford backs Bath Rugby to win Aviva Premiership title

Mike Ford is confident that Bath Rugby can keep hold of second place in the Aviva Premiership table and prevail in the end-of-season playoffs.

Mike Ford has urged his Bath Rugby players to keep hold of second place in the Aviva Premiership table, having secured a playoff spot by narrowly beating Harlequins.

George Ford's late penalty proved to be the difference in a topsy-turvy affair at Twickenham Stoop, as the visitors prevailed 27-26 to ensure that their place in the top four is secured.

Bath sit eight points ahead of Saracens in second, although Sarries hold a game in hand over their rivals heading into the final week of the regular campaign.

"Quins played very well and kept coming at us, but we kept our composure and didn't panic at any stage," Ford is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"George Ford kicked his goals and we take the four points and move on. Going into the last game of the season we know that a home win will secure us second place.

"We're very pleased because it just adds to the belief we have at the moment that we're a good side and could potentially win this year."

Bath take on Gloucester Rugby in their final home game next Saturday.
