Leeds Rhinos 39-28 Wigan Warriors

Leeds Rhinos reach the final of the Challenge Cup thanks to a 39-28 win over Wigan Warriors.

Leeds Rhinos booked their place in the final of the Challenge Cup thanks to a 39-28 victory over Wigan Warriors this afternoon.

The Rhinos took control of a high-scoring opening 40 with three tries in the opening 11 minutes. Ryan Hall was the first to go over, before Ben Jones-Bishop soon touched down.

The quick-fire trio of tries was soon completed by Zak Hardaker as Kevin Sinfield added two of the extras for those tries.

Wigan responded with tries in the 20th and 23rd minutes courtesy of George Carmont and Gareth Hock, both of which were converted by Sam Tomkins.

However, Rhinos soon got themselves up to 30 points for the half when Jones-Bishop and Ryan Bailey added further tries. Sinfield was again on hand to convert one of the extras on offer.

Replacement Ben Flower kept the Warriors in contention with a try in the 38th minute, with Tomkins in turn making the extras.

Another try from Hardaker 10 minutes after the restart, which was converted by Sinfield, put the Rhinos 17 points ahead of Wigan, who were left on 20.

Late tries from Sean O'Loughlin and Josh Charnley reduced the deficit, but it was not enough to inspire a comeback.

The last score went the way of Leeds, who kicked more points for the Rhinos.
