Steve McNamara pleased with "tough" Fiji test

Steve McNamara says that he is happy with how his England team played against Fiji in yesterday's Rugby League World Cup clash at the KC Stadium.

England coach Steve McNamara believes that yesterday's 34-12 win over Fiji will set his team up perfectly for the knockout stages of the Rugby League World Cup.

The host nation will face either France or Samoa in their last-eight match, and McNamara is pleased with the way his side are clicking into gear.

"It was a proper Test match, we always knew it would be," the 42-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"It was a very tough test match. It's exactly the test we needed. I think it bodes well for us in the quarter-finals."

Australia qualified from Group A as winners.
