England begin their Four Nations campaign with a dominant 42-4 win over Wales.

England started their Four Nations campaign with a 42-4 win over Wales at Leigh Sports Village this afternoon.

Steve McNamara's team took the lead in the first minute after Sam Tomkins slid over the line for his first try of the game. However, Kevin Sinfield's missed conversion kept Wales within four points.

Tomkins added to his tally after 15 minutes, scraping over the line after throwing a dummy for his second try. Sinfield's second conversion attempt of the game extended the lead to ten points.

England were able to score again before the break, when Kirk Yeaman pushed through to add another four points to the total.

Minutes after the restart, Tomkins sealed his hattrick and tenth try in ten games after being put clean through behind the first time participants' last man.

Jack Reed added another after some quick passing on 55 minutes, before Tomkins's fourth try of the game put the result beyond doubt. Sinfield's second successful conversion made it a 30-point difference.

Wales strung together a number of passes to put Elliot Kear in to score after the hour mark.

However, Chris Heighington and Gareth Widdop's tries in the final five minutes allowed England to retake their 30-plus point lead ahead of the conclusion.

England will next face Australia on Saturday, November 5 at Wembley.
