Catalans Dragons beat Huddersfield Giants to seal semi-final berth

Catalans Dragons move into the Super League semi-finals for the first time since 2009 after beating Huddersfield Giants 18-16.

Catalans Dragons have progressed into the last four of the Super League playoffs after beating Huddersfield Giants 18-16 in a tense preliminary semi-final at the John Smith's Stadium.

Ben Pomeroy's try on 69 minutes swung the clash back in the Dragons' favour as the French outfit reached the semi-final stage for the first time in five years.

Nothing could separate the pair at the break as both teams went in with 10 points apiece.

Daryl Millard and Michael Oldfield touched down to cancel out Jodie Broughton's early opener for the hosts, before they drew level through Aaron Murphy on 27 minutes.

In a tightly contested second half, the Giants moved ahead on 62 minutes through Luke Robinson, but the pendulum swung back toward the Dragons when Pomeroy crossed shortly after to seal the win and their first semi since 2009.
