Jockey Freddy Tylicki "struggling and fighting" after being left paralysed

Jockey Freddy Tylicki takes to social media to admit that he is "struggling and fighting" after being left paralysed, but is grateful for the support.

Jockey Freddy Tylicki has taken to social media to admit that he is "struggling and fighting" after a fall left him paralysed from the waist down.

The 30-year-old was hospitalised after being thrown to the ground during a four-horse pileup in the 15.20 maiden fillies stake at Kempton a fortnight ago.

People have also raised more than £270,000 for Tylicki, who remains in intensive care at St George's Hospital in Tooting.

In his first tweet since the accident, the flat jockey wrote: "Struggling and fighting!!!! Thank you every single one for all the support! Here is to a long road in front of me! Much love everyone!"

Jim Crowley was also taken to hospital following the fall, but escaped with a broken nose, while Ted Durcan suffered a broken ankle and Steve Drowne was left unhurt.
