Jonjo O'Neill: Synchronised should run

Trainer Jonjo O'Neill believes that Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Synchronised should run in the Grand National.

Trainer Jonjo O'Neill is adamant that Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Synchronised should run at Aintree in the Grand National.

Owner JP McManus has yet to confirm whether the nine-year-old will run in the world-famous steeplechase in eight days' time, although he has been initially registered to do so.

However, O'Neill believes that Synchronised should be given the chance to become the first horse since Golden Miller in 1934 to win both the Gold Cup and National in the same season.

"This is his game and his distance. I might never have him in this form again," O'Neill told The Times.

"The four-week gap after Cheltenham is a big advantage and he came out of it buzzing. Logically, he should run."

Bookmakers' odds suggest that Synchronised, who is as short as 6/1 to win the National in places, is likely to run.
