Jason Maguire undergoes back surgery in attempt to save career

Jockey Jason Maguire undergoes back surgery in an attempt to help him continue his career in the sport.

Chris Broad, the agent of Jason Maguire, has revealed that it may take "a week or two" before they find out whether the jockey's back surgery has been a success.

Earlier this month, Maguire withdrew from the Grand National in order to rest a back injury ahead of the new season.

However, the 35-year-old, who hasn't ridden since February, has been forced to undergo an operation to fix the problem and it is not yet known whether he will be able to return to the sport.

Maguire also suffered a career-threatening fall at Stratford last year, an incident that left him in an induced coma.
