Tony McCoy to ride Carlingford Lough in Cheltenham Gold Cup

Nineteen-time champion jockey Tony McCoy reveals that he will ride Carlingford Lough in his final appearance in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Tony McCoy has admitted that he might get a "little emotional" during his final appearance at the Cheltenham Festival next month.

The 19-time champion jockey recently announced that he will retire from racing at the end of the season, and after revealing that he will ride Carlingford Lough in this year's Gold Cup, the Northern Irishman acknowledged that the event as a whole could leave him with mixed emotions.

In his Cheltenham racecourse blog, the 40-year-old said: "I couldn't be happier that Carlingford Lough will be my ride.

"Cheltenham this year will probably be a little emotional for me but hopefully I will enjoy it more than I ever have as it will be the last time I will be riding there."

McCoy has previously won the Gold Cup in 1997 and 2012.
