Tottenham Hotspur: 'Three fans sustain minor injuries in attack'

Tottenham Hotspur confirm that three supporters sustained "minor injuries" following in attack by a gang of 50 assailants.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that three supporters sustained "minor injuries" following an attack in Lyon last night.

The group of fans, who are in France for Spurs' second leg clash against the Ligue 1 side in the Europa League, are thought to have been confronted by 50 masked men in the Smoking Dog bar.

Tottenham posted a message on their official Twitter feed saying: "Club officials attended an incident last night in Lyon. A group of around 50 people confronted fans. The situation was dealt with & arrests were made within the hour.

"Three fans sustained minor injuries & received prompt medical assistance. Spurs Officials & Stewards will be in the City throughout the day, along with match-day French police ahead of kickoff."

The attackers are thought to be right-wing extremists.
