Jermain Defoe says that he gives Tottenham Hotspur teammate Gareth Bale "stick" for giving his daughter the same initials as manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has admitted to mocking teammate Gareth Bale for giving his baby daughter the same initials as manager Andre Villas-Boas, who is often referred to as AVB.

The England international has claimed that he has given the prolific winger "stick" for naming his baby girl Alba Violet Bale, who was born in October.

"Gaz has little AVB and is buzzing," the Daily Mail quotes Defoe as saying. "I give him stick about her initials. He is the first to give someone banter. So when you have a chance to give it back, you take it."

Defoe became a father to son Joshua-James last month.
