Panathinaikos technical director Nikos Dabizas attacked by fans

Panathinaikos technical director Nikos Dabizas is reportedly attacked by a group of fans outside the club's stadium.

Panathinaikos technical director Nikos Dabizas was reportedly attacked by supporters this weekend.

The former Newcastle United defender was verbally and physically abused by a gang of four outside the team's Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium after watching their Under-20 side play, according to Reuters.

"Panathinaikos condemns the behaviour of the individuals involved in the attack against the team's technical director Nikos Dabizas," the club said in a statement.

"Nikos is a capable, worthy and hard-working member of the club and is doing his best for the good of a Panathinaikos team which is struggling to be reborn... in a hostile environment."

Dabizas recently joined the Panathinaikos setup to oversee transfers following the club's failure to qualify for Europe for the first time in 15 years.

However, the club's poor form of late has sparked anger among its supporters. Dabizas has chosen not to press charges against his attackers.
