Nottingham Forest's Danny Fox bleaches beard to raise cystic fibrosis awareness

Notts Forest defender Danny Fox bleaches his beard in a bid to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis, a condition that claimed the life of his friend two years ago.

Nottingham Forest defender Danny Fox has dyed his beard yellow in a bid to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis, after losing a friend to the condition in 2012.

Fox sported colourful facial hair in reference to the logo for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - for which he is an ambassador - at a hospital where he and his teammates spread some Christmas cheer recently.

The 28-year-old is hoping that his stunt will help raise £25,000 for the condition, especially with Forest's clash against Leeds United on Saturday scheduled to be televised.

"It is all in aid of my friend, Paul Williams, who passed away just over two years ago," he told reporters. "He had an illness called cystic fibrosis. It is a condition that can effect the lungs and the chest.

"The main colour of the charity, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, is yellow, so it seemed fitting to dye my beard yellow, to try to help raise some awareness for it.

"Hopefully I can do a few more things to raise some money. I am planning a bike ride and perhaps a sky dive in the future."
