Fans of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar have expressed their outrage at Maria Sharapova after she admitted that she wasn't aware who the 'little master' was.

The 41-year-old was among a number of famous faces in the royal box at Wimbledon to watch Sharapova seal a straight-sets win over Alison Riske in the third round at the All England Club.

After the match last Saturday, Sharapova was asked if she knew who the Indian sportsman was, to which she replied: "No."

A number of Tendulkar's fans aimed their fury at Sharapova by bombarding her Facebook page with run-scoring statistics of the former Indian batsman, as well as calling on the Russian to apologise.

Sharapova's Wimbledon campaign came to an end in the fourth round following a three-set defeat to Angelique Kerber.
