A witness heard "non-stop fighting" at the home of Oscar Pistorius ahead of the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, a court has heard.

Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius argued with his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on the day of her death, a court has heard.

The 26-year-old, who has been charged with the premeditated murder of the 29-year-old model at his home by shooting her dead through a bathroom door, returned to Pretoria Magistrates' Court this morning to continue his bail hearing.

Prosecutor Garrie Nel told the court that he had a witness statement claiming they had heard "non-stop fighting" an hour before Steenkamp's body was found, according to Eyewitness News journalist Barry Bateman.

Investigating officer Hilton Botha was called to the witness stand and revealed that Steenkamp was shot in the elbow, hip and just above the ear on the right side of her head.

Botha also claimed in court that he believed that Pistorius was a flight risk, indicating the double amputee should not be granted bail.

Pistorius, who competed in the Paralympic and Olympic Games at London 2012, claimed in his affidavit yesterday that he had mistaken his girlfriend for an intruder and denied intending to kill her.
