Non-league club Bungay Town offers fans free mushrooms to attend game

Non-league club Bungay Town will give supporters who attend this weekend's match a free punnet of mushrooms.

Non-league club Bungay Town have said that fans who attend their match against Martham this weekend will receive a free punnet of mushrooms.

With around half the league clubs not in action because of the international break, football fans are encouraged to attend local non-league matches this weekend every season, and the Anglian Combination Division Two side are hoping that the offer will bring in a bumper crowd.

Vice chairman Shaun Cole told BBC Sport: "We have a supplier of mushrooms so we thought 'why not? The former chairman is a mushroom grower'.

"Last year we had a 60-70% attendance increase on the day and I would be delighted if we can get that again."

A number of other non-league sides are also offering free gifts to fans as part of non-league weekend, including Kidderminster Harriers, who will be handing out children's books, while those who attend Truro City's tie against Hitchin Town will receive a complimentary scarf.
