Tom Daley's plane to UK forced to make emergency landing

Tom Daley and boyfriend Dustin Lance Black's flight from Shanghai to the UK is forced to make an emergency landing in Russia.

Tom Daley's preparations for the Commonwealth Games have been disrupted after the plane taking the Olympic diver back to the UK was forced to make an emergency landing.

The 20-year-old, who was travelling from Shanghai to London with boyfriend Dustin Lance Black today, revealed on Twitter that the plane was forced to land in the Russian city of Irkutsk.

The sportsman expressed his fear after by alluding to the recent Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash, which plummeted to the ground in Eastern Ukraine on Thursday.

Daley tweeted: "Scary to emergency land in RUS after recent events, yet no word on what problem is after hour surrounded by fire engines #VirginAtlantic."

The diver was in Shanghai competing at the FINA World Cup, but missed out on a medal.
