Clare Balding is to host a new weekly sports chatshow for the upcoming BT Sport service.

Clare Balding is to host her own sports chatshow for the upcoming BT sports service.

The presenter, who won plaudits for her coverage of the Olympics and Paralympics last year, will front a weekly interview and discussion series for the new service, which launches this summer.

The show will also "shine a spotlight on women's sport" and is being lined up as BT's "flagship programme".

"I'd like to thank BT for giving me the opportunity to present my own magazine-style programme in which I can interview iconic sports stars and discuss newsworthy and stimulating topics," said Balding, who will also co-produce the series.

"I'm enthused by BT's vision for sports coverage in the future and particularly their support of women's sport, an issue about which I feel very strongly. This is an exciting new venture for me and I can't wait to get started."

Launching this summer, BT Sport will broadcast 38 live Premier League games per season, as well as all 380 games from Italy's Serie A and France's Ligue 1.

The service - which is expected to span multiple channels - also has the rights to Aviva Premiership rugby, 800 hours of WTA tennis, Major League Soccer and South American football.
