Newly-formed New York City FC Major League Soccer franchise have tried to encourage fans to inspire the team by handing out sheets containing various chants.

The club have struggled in their MLS debut having earned just six points from nine games in the Eastern Conference, but they are attempting to get the supporters to rally behind David Villa and co.

Chants include, "put the ball into the net and we'll go really mental," as well as, "you might have some history, but we don't give a crud."

Midfielder Mix Diskerud also has his own song, which includes the lyrics, "I, wanna Diskerud all night, and party every day," to the tune of 'Rock N' Roll All Night' by rock band Kiss.
