Joey Barton is given a two-match suspended ban for offensive comments aimed at Thiago Silva on Twitter back in April.

Marseille midfielder Joey Barton has been given a two-match suspended ban for insulting Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva on Twitter.

The 30-year-old Englishman, who joined OM on loan from Queens Park Rangers last summer, called the PSG centre-back an "overweight ladyboy" in April.

Barton's ban will come into effect only if he commits a similar offence and does not concern his actions on the pitch.

Barton has featured in 22 Ligue 1 matches for Marseille so far this season.
