Rio Ferdinand reveals that he will watch the opening World Cup match between Brazil and Croatia at the home of former teammates Rafael and Fabio da Silva.

Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he will watch tonight's World Cup opening match at the home of his former Manchester United teammates Rafael and Fabio da Silva.

The defender, who left United at the end of last season, is in Brazil working as a football pundit for the BBC's coverage of the global tournament.

The Group A clash between Brazil and Croatia in Sao Paulo will get the competition underway following the opening ceremony.

Ferdinand wrote on Twitter: "Up early....5:50am....first day of the World Cup..can't wait! Going to a favela then to Rafael and Fabio's house to watch Brazil and food!! Good day."

He added on Instagram: "@orafa2 see you later! Fabio do not welcome me to your house in any type of Speedos!"

The 35-year-old retired from international football in May last year.
