Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he used the words of Hillsborough campaigner Margaret Aspinall to inspire his team against Norwich City on Sunday.

The Merseyside outfit hung on to clinch a 3-2 victory over the Canaries at Carrow Road in order to keep their Premier League title hopes alive.

"We had the memorial service this week and that was really touching," Rodgers told reporters. "So I decided to use words of Margaret Aspinall. We put them up on the wall.

"She talked about stress and how it can prove difficult for you but can also offer great determination to fight. Those were the words that we gave the players before the game."

Liverpool have a five-point lead at the top of the league table with three games left to play.
