Liverpool 'delete 9/11 tribute from Twitter following negative reaction'

Liverpool's US Twitter account remove an image paying tribute to the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks following a negative reaction from followers.

Liverpool's official US Twitter account has been forced to pull down a tribute to the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks following a negative reaction from followers.

The American contingent of Liverpool's social media posted an image of the New York World Trade Center towers in red with two liver birds sitting next to them with the message 'You'll never walk alone America' displayed in the sky.

While some fans respected Liverpool's tribute, a number of Twitter users blasted the club for the graphic, causing the site to remove the post, according to 101greatgoals.com.

The 12th anniversary of the tragedy was commemorated on Wednesday.
