Inquests into Hillsborough disaster to resume today after three-week break

Inquests into the Hillsborough disaster will resume today after a three-week break.

Inquests into the Hillsborough disaster will continue today after a three-week adjournment from August 1.

The 11-person jury have heard from the families of the 96 Liverpool fans who died back in 1989 as a result of a crush at the Hillsborough ground.

Detailed accounts of the people who passed away were given to the jury, which is made up of seven women and four men, when the inquests began on March 31.

Evidence regarding the safety of the stadium, which is home to Sheffield Wednesday, and what went into the planning and preparation of the day was also detailed during the hearings.

According to the Liverpool Echo, evidence is expected to be given from 11 former police officers this week, and five statements from officers who cannot attend will be read to the court.

The inquests, which were granted after the original 'accidental' verdict was quashed, are expected to run until July 2015.
