Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been given the nickname 'David Blaine' by his teammate Daniel Sturridge.

The former Chelsea striker has likened Coutinho to the American magician, but the Brazilian has admitted that he had no idea who the illusionist was.

"To tell the truth, I hadn't heard about that!" Coutinho told the club's official website.

"If I'm not mistaken, he's a magician? David Blaine? I don't know, I guess it's cool for him to say that, but to tell the truth I hadn't heard about it."

The 21-year-old has claimed that he is close friends with Sturridge off the pitch.
