Leeds United youth player Simon Lenighan and another man raped a woman and filmed the attack on a mobile phone, a court has heard.

Leeds United youth team player Simon Lenighan is alleged to have raped a woman in a hotel and filmed the sex attack on his mobile phone.

Leeds Crown Court heard that the 18-year-old along with 23-year-old Nathan Campbell carried out the attack at the Etap Hotel in the city.

It is alleged that the victim woke up the next morning with neither man around and discovered that her mobile phone and money were missing.

The Daily Mail quotes Robin Mairs, prosecuting, as saying: "What we say is both Campbell and Lenighan used their video phones to film [the woman] while she lay naked in bed.

"This video, the Crown says, is more than simply a sordid souvenir of what happened in that hotel room. It is more than a lack of decency."

Lenighan denies three charges of rape and one of perverting the course of justice, while Campbell also denies three counts of rape and one of perverting the course of justice and sexual assault.
