Pedestrian handed £6m payout after Scott Allan collision

A pedestrian is awarded £6m in damages after being struck by a car driven by Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan.

A pedestrian that was struck by Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan's car has been awarded £6m in damages by the 23-year-old's insurance company.

The 53-year-old man was left with what have been described as "devastating" head injuries following the collision in Portsmouth in 2012, which occurred when the former Scottish Under-21 international was on loan at Fratton Park.

The pedestrian, who was granted anonymity as part of the settlement, gets an immediate £2m lump sum, followed by annual payments of £165,000, plus £190,000 after 2027.

The man remained critical in a Southampton hospital for some time after the accident, and has been left with physical and mental difficulties as a result of brain injury.
