Aurelien Rougerie, Julien Pierre, Benjamin Kayers attacked with machetes

A gang armed with machetes and swords attack Clermont Auvergne trio Aurelien Rougerie, Julien Pierre and Benjamin Kayers in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Clermont Auvergne trio Aurelien Rougerie, Julien Pierre and Benjamin Kayers were all attacked by a gang armed with machetes and swords in the early hours of Sunday morning.

All three France internationals were assaulted in Millau, Southern France, but according to a statement from Clermont, none of the injuries suffered were life-threatening.

According to BBC Sport, Pierre and Rougerie will both have surgery on "deep cuts" to their hips, but Kayers escaped with fairly minor injuries in relation to the seriousness of the attack.

It is understood that the trio had been attending a nightclub before the assault took place.
