Former horse racing pundit John McCririck is believed to have been taken to hospital after collapsing at Cheltenham.

Former Channel 4 Sport pundit John McCririck has reportedly been taken to hospital after he collapsed during the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival.

No details have been revealed regarding the 72-year-old's condition, with the news having only broke this evening.

"Cheltenham Festival officials confirm John McCririck taken to Cheltenham General Hospital after being taken ill at races," BBC Sport's Cornelius Lysaght wrote on Twitter.

McCririck was dropped by Channel 4 at the end of 2012, a decision that he credited to "ageism".
