Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard confirms that he is to write five books for children.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has signed a deal to write five books for children.

The series of books, which will be aimed at children five and over, will be called 'Frankie's Magic Football.'

"I first had the idea of Frankie and his Magic Football when reading stories to my own children," Lampard said in a statement.

"Sport and reading are two essentials for us at home, so I decided to make up my own football stories and adventures.

"The characters are loosely based on friends and teammates I've played with over the years. I am delighted that Little Brown liked the stories as much as my children and will be publishing the Frankie's Magic Football series."

Three books will be published this year, with a further two following in 2014.
