Political activist invades pitch during Belgium's win over USA at World Cup

A political activist sends a message to the Brazilian government after invading the pitch during Belgium's win over the USA.

A pitch invader interrupted Belgium's victory over the USA at the World Cup last night in an attempt to send a message to the Brazilian government.

A young man appeared on the field during the first half of Belgium's eventual victory, which was secured 2-1 in extra time over the USA.

Stewards at the stadium took a while to spot the visitor, which allowed him to display a message on his Superman T-shirt reading, 'save favelas' and 'children'.

The Brazilian government has been criticised by its citizens in the run-up and during the World Cup for spending millions on the tournament and neglecting local issues.
