Neymar has taken to social media to address a photo which appears to show the Barcelona striker smoking.

The picture seems to show Neymar with a cigarette on a balcony while wearing a dressing gown, but the 23-year-old has claimed that it is a body double.

The Brazilian told fans of his Facebook page that the photo is from 2013, and that they should not believe everything they see on the internet.

Neymar said: "You can not believe that there are people believing that I am even in this photo smoking, right? I do not smoke, I do not like nor the smell of cigarette, but I do not have anything against anyone who smokes.

"And the Nico, my daredevil that was photographed smoking, it is very good people!! To make matters worse the photo is 2013!!
Guys!! Let us combine, do not believe in all that you see on the internet."

Neymar recently missed the majority of the Copa America after picking up a four-game ban for being sent off during the group stages.
