Aston Villa's Ashley Westwood admits he lied to now-wife about his job

Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood reveals that he lied to his now-wife by claiming that he worked as an electrician, not a footballer.

Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has admitted that he lied to his now-wife and told her that he worked as an electrician, not a footballer.

The 25-year-old has revealed that he was worried that his partner Rebecca, who is the mother of his two children, would compare him to the stereotype that comes with being a footballer.

Instead of telling her the truth, Westwood, who met Rebecca when he was 19 years old and she was 23, decided to lie and claim that he was an electrician.

"I even started to advise her on how to rewire her new house," Westwood told the Daily Mail. "Truth is I had no idea what I was talking about."

The midfielder is preparing for Saturday's FA Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley.
