Jack Wilshere reportedly pays £5,000 towards the treatment given to alcoholic England legend Paul Gascoigne.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has paid £5,000 towards struggling England legend Paul Gascoigne's treatment.

The 45-year-old, who appears to have reverted back to drinking following years battling drug and alcohol abuse, was rushed to intensive care during a stint at a rehab facility in Phoenix, Arizona last week.

Wilshere, who is thought to be the latest footballer financially backing the former Tottenham Hotspur star, is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I want to do anything I can."

Fears over Gascoigne's state arose when he appeared dazed and incoherent during an event in Northampton.
