Wojciech Szczesny helps the homeless

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny gets involved in the restoration of a homeless shelter funded by money raised by the club.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been helping the homeless as part of a club charity initiative.

The Gunners raised £500,000 for their 'Be a Gooner, Be a Giver' charity, and the money has been ploughed back into the London community, with the Poland goalkeeper taking time out to help with the restoration of a shelter in Soho.

He is quoted as saying in The Mirror: "It's amazing to be a part of something special - not just the fundraising, but actually helping towards making the building a place where homeless young people can come to help themselves to a better future."

The funds were used to add new counselling rooms and kitchen facilities to the centre that assists in helping young people who have fallen on hard times, and Szczesny was part of the team that helped redecorate the building.
