An Arsenal fan is reportedly given a three-year banning order and £250 fine for throwing a banana at Tottenham's Gareth Bale.

An Arsenal fan has reportedly been hit with a three-year football banning order and £250 fine for throwing a banana at Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale.

Enfield resident Thomas Flint was accused of launching the piece of fruit towards the Wales international during Spurs' 2-1 victory over the Gunners in March.

The 23-year-old admitted to throwing a missile and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour during that match at a hearing in Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court.

Flint was given a three-year ban, a £250 fine and ordered to pay £85 in costs, as well as a £25 victim surcharge, according to the Northern Echo.

The court heard that the Gunners fan regularly attended matches.
