Scotland netball star June McNeil praises "fantastic" opening ceremony

Scotland's netball goal keeper June McNeil believes that the opening ceremony was an unforgettable experience.

Team Scotland netball goal keeper June McNeil has said that the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Wednesday night exceeded her expectations.

McNeil said that she has never experienced an occasion like it in her life and is hoping that the momentum will carry on when the netball tournament gets underway.

"Tonight was absolutely fantastic," she told reporters. "We knew it was going to be great but we didn't know it was going to be that great. So we are so excited and we can't wait to get down to business tomorrow.

"The noise was deafening, just so overwhelming. I speak for myself and all the other teammates: I don't think I've experienced a night like this at all."

Scotland take on Saint Lucia in their opening match on Friday.
