Stuart Airey "proud" of England's lawn bowls display

Stuary Airey says that he is 'disappointed but proud' after missing out on a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in the men's fours event.

England's Stuart Airey has said that he is "proud" of his men's fours teammates after picking up a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.

It could very well have been more for England's team of Jamie Chestney, John McGuiness, Andy Knapper and Airey, but they were comfortably beaten in today's final against Scotland at Kelvingrove.

"We are disappointed with the result but we have got a silver medal and I suppose I would have taken that at the start," Airey told reporters. "We put ourselves in opposition to win a gold – I'm proud of the boys and I've had a great time with the lads."

England's women's pairs side also had to settle for silver after being narrowly edged out by South Africa.
