Team GB's Kimberley Renicks out of Olympics

A shoulder problem means that Team GB's judoka Kimberley Renicks will miss this summer's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Team GB judoka Kimberley Renicks has been forced to withdraw from the Olympic Games later this year.

The 28-year-old, who won gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, has been informed that she requires surgery to correct a shoulder injury.

"I'm gutted. I can't really describe it," she told BBC Sport.

"The Olympics is your dream. It's the one you want to make. It's a knockback but I'm still young enough to pick myself up."

Renicks was due to be Britain's top-ranked player at -48kg.
