British judoka Louise Renicks announces her retirement from the sport after injuries hampered her Rio 2016 campaign.

British judoka Louise Renicks has announced her retirement from the sport due to injuries.

The 32-year-old, who won gold for Scotland in last year's Commonwealth Games, had aimed to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics, but injury problems affected her progress.

"I have been hampered by injuries for the past few months and had to pull out of various competitions and, after consultation with specialists, there were no guarantees I'd get through the competitions I needed to make," BBC Sport quotes Renicks as saying.

Renicks will now help coach her sister Kimberley towards Rio.
