Louise Renicks hails "emotional" day for family in Glasgow

Louise Renicks admits that she found it difficult to hold back her emotions after joining her sister in winning gold at the Commonwealth Games.

Louise Renicks has admitted that it was an "emotional" day for her family after she joined her sister by claiming judo gold at the Commonwealth Games on Thursday.

A triumph for Kimberley Renicks in the -48kg category was quickly followed by a win for Louise in the -52kg final, and the latter revealed that it was difficult to fight back the tears in front of her Scottish supporters.

"My mum and dad are here, and it is a really emotional moment, I was a bit upset when I came off the mat," the -53kg gold medallist told BBC Sport. "I heard the Brownlee brothers won for England tonight, so now it is two families who can celebrate.

"I feel really proud with us getting the first gold medals for Scotland and there is much more to come."

The Renickses claimed the first two gold medals of the Games for Scotland.
