Scotland flag-bearer Euan Burton: 'Commonwealth Games will be special'

Euan Burton predicts "something special" at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after last night's successful opening ceremony.

Scotland flag-bearer Euan Burton has predicted "something special" at the Commonwealth Games following last night's opening ceremony.

The curtain raiser at Celtic Park received wide-spread praise, and judo competitor Burton hopes that it is the start of more to come in Glasgow.

"When we were standing in the tunnel outside I turned round and shouted 'are you ready Scotland?' The reception I got was incredible," the 35-year-old said.

"When we went in the noise was indescribable and every time we hit a corner it just went up again. If the rest of the Games is like this it's going to be something special."

The first of the judo events gets underway at 10am this morning.
