Alexander Ovechkin: 'Mistakes cost us the game'

Russia's Alexander Ovechkin believes that mistakes cost the team in their ice hockey quarter-final against Finland at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Alexander Ovechkin has said that the Russian Federation were punished for their mistakes by Finland in their ice hockey quarter-final at the Winter Olympics.

The hosts, who were heavily tipped to win the gold medal in Sochi, lost 3-1 to the Finns this afternoon.

"It's all bad," BBC Sport quotes Ovechkin as saying.

"We started well, with a goal. But a few mistakes cost us the game. We tried to score, but just couldn't manage it. Emotions? At the moment I don't have any emotions."

Finland will play Sweden in the semi-finals.
