Team GB announce 13-strong squad for Olympic Games

Team GB announce that 13 gymnasts have been selected in the squad for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Team GB have named a 13-strong squad for the gymnastic events at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Pommel horse world champion Max Whitlock heads the group of competitors, while London 2012 medallists Louis Smith and Kristian Thomas will also feature in Rio de Janeiro.

Becky Downie and Kat Driscoll make their second appearances at the Games but there are debuts for over half of the squad with four-time Commonwealth gold medallist Claudia Fragapane the most notable name among the newcomers.

Nile Wilson, Brinn Bevan, Ellie Downie, Amy Tinkler, Ruby Harrold, Bryony Page and Nathan Bailey will also make their first Olympic appearances for Team GB.

The Games get underway on August 5.
