Team England gymnast Nile Wilson: 'Glasgow atmosphere gave me goosebumps'

Teenage English gymnast Nile Wilson tells Sports Mole that the atmosphere at the Commonwealth Games gymnastics today gave him "goosebumps".

Commonwealth Games debutant Nile Wilson has described the atmosphere at Glasgow's SSE Hydro as "unbelievable" after appearing for the first time at a senior gymnastics meet this afternoon.

The 18-year-old from Leeds kicked things off for England's men as the team final began with the floor, pommel horse and rings today.

Speaking afterwards, Wilson told Sports Mole: "It was unbelievable. When I walked out the atmosphere gave me goosebumps. I was so nervous coming in here as it's my first senior, but I think all the unbelievable support in here settled my nerves.

"Floor was a hard piece to start in. I was first up on every apparatus as well so I was a bit shaky. I was happy to get through it and do my job for the team."

Six of the 11 teams have completed the first half of the team final, with the remainder this evening. Favourites England lead the way by over six points to second-placed Scotland.
