Max Whitlock has insisted that he is as prepared as he can be for the hectic schedule ahead of him at the Commonwealth Games.
If the 21-year-old is successful in both individual and team events in Glasgow, he will be forced to compete for five successive days this week, but he is optimistic of being in the correct frame of mind to challenge for gold.
"It's a lot busier than normal," Whitlock told the Daily Mail. "Often we'll go one day on, one day off, but it will be different here and we've tried to mirror that in training.
"We always work on tidying up our routines, but we've done a lot of stamina work and strengthening in the gym. Thanks to my National Lottery funding, we also went to a training camp in Portugal. It's not just a physical challenge — the programme will test the gymnasts' mental strength in other ways."
Whitlock won bronze in the team event and on the pommel horse at the London Olympics.
