Tiger Woods cards 77 on return at Hero World Challenge

Tiger Woods cards a 77 on his return from injury as Jordan Spieth takes an early lead at the Hero World Challenge.

Tiger Woods struggled on his return from injury as the former world number one started the Hero World Challenge with a 77 in Florida.

The 38-year-old made his comeback at the tournament he hosts, and despite looking comfortable with a new swing, his short game was disappointing on day one.

Woods carded three bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine, before eventually finishing the day in last place in the 18-man field on five-over-par.

A run of five successive birdies was the highlight of Jordan Spieth's round as the 21-year-old continued his recent good form by taking the lead with an opening round of six-under.

American trio Rickie Fowler, Steve Stricker and Zach Johnson sit one shot behind the leader alongside world number two Henrik Stenson.
